???? Article Types

HAJHS accepts the following article types. Follow the specific guidelines for your manuscript type:

???? Research Article

Original primary research or novel methods. Clinical trials require CONSORT 2010, Declaration of Helsinki, and WHO registry adherence. RCTs must include a completed CONSORT checklist.

???? Study Protocol

Detailed protocols for proposed/ongoing prospective clinical research. Must outline hypothesis, rationale, methodology, and ethics. Only for studies not yet finished recruiting. RCTs follow SPIRIT guidelines. Pilot/feasibility protocols not accepted.

???? Narrative Review

Up-to-date narrative reviews on topics within journal scope. No formal protocol required.

???? Systematic Review / Meta-Analysis / Scoping Review

Follow PRISMA, Cochrane, and JBI guidelines. PRISMA checklist and flow diagram mandatory. Prospective registration in PROSPERO or OSF required. Registration number on final abstract line.

???? Comment

Short commissioned commentary on contemporary topics. Not mini-reviews. Contact editorial office before submitting.

???? Software Article

Comprehensive algorithm description, dependencies, installation instructions, test data. Must be freely accessible for non-commercial use. Include as supplementary files. Host source code on recognized repository.

???? Database Article

Novel, useful, fully accessible database. Provide direct link, curation process, sustainability plan. Ensure anonymous reviewer access. Freely available for non-commercial research.

???? Matters Arising

Post-publication commentary (max 1,000 words). 1–2 figures/tables, up to 15 references. Title must reference original paper. Submit by email to editor. Original authors invited to respond.

✓ Declarations Required

Include all declarations in a dedicated Declarations section. Use "Not applicable" where appropriate.

1. Ethics Approval & Consent

State ethics approval committee name and reference number. For animal studies, include ethics approval. For client-owned animals, include owner consent. If no human/animal subjects: "Not applicable."

2. Consent for Publication

Mandatory for all identifiable personal data/images. For children, parent/guardian consent required. If no personal data: "Not applicable."

3. Data Availability

Choose one statement:

  • "Datasets are publicly available in [repository] at [link/DOI]."
  • "Datasets available from corresponding author upon reasonable request."
  • "All data included in this article and supplementary files."
  • "Datasets not publicly available due to [reason] but available upon request."
  • "Data sharing not applicable — no new datasets generated."
  • "Data derived from third-party sources under license."

4. Competing Interests

Disclose all conflicts (financial, non-financial, patents). If none: "The authors declare that they have no competing interests."

5. Funding

Declare all sources with grant numbers and recipient authors. Include commercial company names. State funder involvement. If no involvement: "The funder had no role in design, data collection, analysis, decision to publish, or preparation of manuscript." For unfunded: "No funding."

6. Authors' Contributions

List all authors with contributions (conceptualization, design, data, analysis, drafting, approval, accountability).

7. Acknowledgments

Acknowledge non-authors with permission. If none: "Not applicable."

???? Reference Style: Vancouver

Citations in brackets [1], [2]. Numbered list in order of appearance. Use reference management software (Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote).

General Rules

  • List first six authors; beyond six, use "et al."
  • No citations to unpublished or unavailable materials
  • Prohibited: excessive self-citation, coordinated citations, manipulative practices

  • Number sequentially (Figure 1, 2...)
  • Multi-panel figures = single file
  • Title (max 15 words) and legend (max 300 words) in text, not in image
  • Embed all fonts
  • Previously published figures: obtain reproduction permission
